A- What is the weather like down there right now? I noticed in the waterfall pictures you where wearing a coat so I was just wondering. In case you wanted to know it is way too hot here.
Elder Lingen - Weather. It's pretty warm here, hovering probably between 25 degrees and 35 degrees (celsius btw), but when it rains, then it drops pretty quickly and I have to wear a coat then. The waterfall hike was fun in nice clothes though!
A- Is the place you live a little cute German town or is it more of a city or a neighborhood like here?
Elder Lingen - Location. It's a little German town. It's not tiny like some of the German towns we visit, but it's certainly a small German town. Its funny because you look at a house, built in the 17 or 1600's or even older, and you think: that house is older than my country!
A- Are you enjoying yourself? / Mom-How are you doing?
Elder Lingen - We're enjoying ourselves. This week was much better. I'm also doing much better with German! I understand almost (keyword "almost") everything people say now!
A- Any investigators I don't know about or cool stories?
Elder Lingen - Our number of investigators is pretty small right now, really only the ones you know about, sorry, but cool story, last week a couple of Americans came to our ward and I got stuck translating for them! Elder Holm had a talk, so it was my job, and it was not easy! thankfully once the people with the really crazy dialect got up, Elder Holm got back down and he started helping.
A- Is your IPad a full sized IPad or an IPad mini?
Elder Lingen -Its an iPad mini. I'll take a picture. We actually went to Kreuzlingen for the zone training where we were given our iPads. It was funny because we weren't given tickets to go the whole way, so elder holm had to buy a ton of tickets for nearly half the zone so that we could all go the last few kilometers and attend the training!
Mom - How are the iPads, now that you've had them for over a week? What are you finding that you can do with them? Is it mostly a good way to show church media for discussions, or do you do other things?
Elder Lingen - The iPads are nice, but we can't do too much with them, I think I mentioned the privacy laws so that we can't put investigators info in there. We also can't use facebook, so right now, it just makes our bags lighter, because we don't have to put our scriptures in them! We still carry around a german book of mormon, because nothing can replace the physical copy entirely! We can also read Ensign articles, conference talks, and watch Mormon messages on it.
