Saturday we went out to a village called Böttingen, stopped by on a member who didn't answer, and then we went over to an old investigator's house. While we were walking, we saw a van pull up in front of a house and someone got out holding a package. They took it up to the house, and knocked on the door a few times, and they never answered. As we walked past them doing this we realized that this was the house where the investigator lived. We walked around the corner and almost didn't go to the house, but we decided almost on a whim to go back, even though they didn't appear to be home. We did, we knocked, and then a guy with a sweet moustache answered the door, and seemed very happy to see us. He was busy just then, but we now have an appointment for this friday, which is very cool! We almost didn't even stop by!
Mission life info:
Austausch (exchanges) happen when the district leader goes to another area in the district to see how things are going in that area, like you said. Its pretty cool, you get to do them with the district leader, or in the case that you or your companion is the district leader, you get to do it in every area (that has elders) in your district. We have some cool elders. I have been trying to take pictures of things that we see in a day, although I can only take pictures of what we're doing if I get other people in the picture, which usually geht nicht (translation: doesn’t work). I'll try to do better of that though!
On Tuesday we were in Zone training, and normally in Zone training at the end, the newest Goldens (greenies) and the missionaries that will be "dying" this transfer give their testimonies. The meeting had gone over, and Elder Holm and I needed to catch a train in less than 5 minutes, so we were really worried, when the zone leaders announced that they would be forgoing the testimonies, because there is two zone trainings this transfer! That was amazing, I was able to play the closing hymn, and then Elder Holm and I managed to catch the train along with the Elders from Offenburg.
It has occurred to me that there is no such thing as "everyday life," its just something that we say, but really there is something different every day! I guess you could say that anything close to a "normal" day is actually a rarity. That is a comforting thought to me, because that's what I hate most, that daily drudgery. If you look at it like every day is a new day, then it works much better, and you get to do awesome things every day, rather than worrying about new things disrupting your "regular schedule."
